Letter to BlueSky

For your entertainment, Jack Dorsey’s new ‘decentralized’ social media app, BlueSky, suspended my account last night. They provided an email address in case I wanted to dispute their decision, and here is what I wrote.

Hello BlueSky,

I have been experimenting with your platform over the last few days in my search for the internet’s best and most open, free speech social media platform.

It was my understanding that one of the goals of decentralized social media was to leave censorship to the individual rather than having it enforced from a detached, centralized authority. I guess that is not the case. 

A user of your platform who is apparently a covid superfan posted in response to an Apple notification she had received about a “surge” in “COVID cases.”She was mocking the NYT for its ostensible irresponsibility in ever doubting the efficacy of masks. She couldn’t believe that they would discourage them based on nothing more than the fact that they don’t work at all, and was blaming mask hesitancy for the “surge” in “COVID cases,” naturally based on tests that also don’t work. She was spreading harmful, anti-scientific misinformation like many of our most heavily vaccinated friends are inclined to do.

As the inventor of what was quite possible the most popular meme of the last 15 months, I thought I would send it her way to let her know that I’m not a fan of her spreading dangerous medical misinformation about the efficacy of masks. People who wear masks are lulled into a sense of false security, thinking they’re protected from the Very Deadly Pandemic when it is literally impossible for the masks to help. My meme said, simply, You Sound Vaccinated, and of course she did sound vaccinated - heavily vaccinated.

In response, I faced a deluge of harassment and a coordinated effort to get my account suspended. I entered a den of they/thems and just got mobbed with heterophobia, cisphobia, intentional misgendering, anti-white racism, etc… was mind-blowing. They are very adamant about preserving their safe space. It’s like everyone who retreated from Twitter supporting one another’s insanity.

For whatever reason, their tactics worked. They were allowed to pile on with relentless attacks on me, my work, my career, my race, my gender and sexuality, my intelligence, my relationships, etc… 

This is apparently encouraged by BlueSky, as BS sided with them and suspended my account for saying “retarded.” These truly degenerate, hate-filled progressives are under the impression that “retarded” is referring to the mentally handicapped. I think it’s gross that they’re calling mentally handicapped people retarded and pretending I’m the one doing it, while I’m clearly calling THEM retarded. If they are also mentally handicapped, I was not aware of it.

Anyhow, have a look at the screenshots. This is what your fledgling app promotes.

They were encouraging my death and self-harm, attempting to strike me down with racisms, accusing me of being Russian… really delusional stuff. They reported me en masse and BlueSky rewarded their targeted harassment. 

What sort of weird app are you all trying to create?
