I'm 50yo, 30 years ago the general believe about the president was that it really didn't matter who it was...congress actually runs things. Your discussion and POV have helped clarify that as not true, but I sure believed it. The president of the United States, that has the public mandate, truly is the most powerful person in the world. Trump is showing us that

The Congress, if it was legitimate and had its own mandate from the people, would be able to keep a powerful executive in check, but we don’t have that.

If anyone is having trouble accessing the livestream on Substack (like I was), try updating the app. Worked great after that.

If you do care that the substack feed is "good" for all your subscribers, then know that it's not for some of us. We cannot control the speed and we are not able to see the time. Those two functions should be available to us. The second function is necessary when we need to leave your stream and return later. With those two functions added, I don't care where I watch it, and the substack feed would be fine. Without those, it's a hassle and I don't have time to listen to it all, as I read and watch/listen to many articles and podcasts daily.

Unfortunately, I can't control Substack's features. Are you referring to the livestream or the podcast? Are you watching on the app or the website? If you just keep in mind when you leave the feed relative to when it started, you should have a pretty good idea of what time you need to return to. I'm not sure how to resolve your issue. I haven't heard anyone else expressing concern about this.

Website. Couldn't watch the livestream as it was Rumble Premium and I'm not. Is substack live? Regardless, it was the video, not the podcast. Just speaking for myself. On the other hand, is there some reason substack cannot provide those functions? They're not exactly quantum level requests. Maybe you can't control, but maybe you could ask?

Yes, it played live here on substack. The email about the subscriber stream I send every Wednesday always has the details. I can submit a suggestion generally, but don’t have a direct contact to address it. I have to admit I’m still a bit confused about what’s being requested. You want the app to remember where you left off viewing the video?

Two things, Chris: control of the speed of playback. I know it's live, but on Rumble or YT, once you've recorded at least some part of the video, one can speed it up, up to 2x, up until one has caught up to the live stream. The second is something that all other videos also have -- the hour/min/second. One can simply look at the time. Lately with Rumble, when I'm listening in a sped-up mode, the sound and the facial expressions/mouth become more and more out of synch until I have to refresh the page. Once it starts back, they're in synch, though only for a short while. So I look at the time, refresh, and if it doesn't restart automatically at that time or I have to leave, I can go back to that exact time. Substack at the moment has neither.
