Many Christians I know and more specifically Catholics see their religion as a Chinese menu where they can pick and choose the doctrines they like and discard the rest. Just as the series "The Chosen" presents a fictional Jesus and the movie CABRINI presents a fictional character based way too loosely on the life of a Catholic saint in which she never prays and never mentions God, some Christians create their own God, one who approves of their current lifestyle. How this translates into voting patterns anyone can guess, but I suspect they don't vote as a block because they can't even agree on who and how they worship! What a mess.
